    Preamble

    If you think that resume filtering, one-round written test and two-round interviews are tolerable in recruiting interns, what do you think about nearly 50 working days, more than 10 man-hours per day, massive knowledge-building and countless tasks to be completed? That might sound horrible to a normal office worker, no wonder to an intern that I was. Nevertheless, growing with the most talented persons, making progress in both working attitudes and scope, and establishing friendship with fellows made this internship meaningful, fruitful and colorful, worthy to be summarized and treasured in my mind perpetually.
    In the following paragraphs, I would like to summarize my experience mainly according to Accenture’s Core Values, not restricted by the temporal sequence of my internship. Maybe in this way my harvest will be revealed more efficiently and logically.

    Client Value Creation

    Now, I still remember what Hu, Xin said to me:” We are in the profession of consulting, what we should do is solving clients’ problems. What’s more, we should try our best to conquer problems for the first time. If not, clients may be suspicious of us; and if we are not able to defeat these problems for the second time, we will lose our clients.” Those words and action which exemplifies those words impressed me deeply, and guide me in my following work. 

    One Global Network

    Accenture has its own worldwide online knowledge warehouse, including the methodologies such as CMMI (Capability Mature Model), CPI, SPI, etc, which Accenture chooses, where her workforces can explore information needed conveniently. Unfortunately, as an intern, I had no right to access this resource, that’s a pity.

    Integrity

    As a consultant, and as a man, integrity is indispensable, which should not be explained with excessive words.  

    Stewardship

    Stewardship is the most outstanding characteristic in Accenture’s culture, which was emphasized by Esmond (the partner of Zhejiang Telecom BSS Project) time after time. Indeed, this advantage exists in every corner of the project team, many talented persons, such as Hu Xin, Zhiqiang, have multi-fields knowledge and skills, which ensures that if one person leave project, another one can replace his/her position without much cost. And, what’s more, stewardship makes individual’s growth and career development possible and diversified.

    Best People

    Accenture possesses diligent, smart and passionate workforces.

    Joe, my interviewer in the second round interview, has sweet laugh, and courteous bearing;
    Henry (SM), radiates Confucian-like glamour, with sharp expression in his eyes;
    Anna (C), even if you don’t talk to her, you can feel her passion and enthusiasm;
    Qingjun (C to M), my direct head, experienced expert in billing area;
    Aaron (M), “undefeated man”, who never knows what tiredness is and gave me valuable suggestion in my career path. He is a talent who is precise and worth respecting;
    Ouyang (C to M) and Shen Jing, typical knowledgeable women;
    Hu Xin, Zhiqiang (C), meticulosity and diligence is their common virtue; they must be excellent men in the future;
    And my lovely fellows: Hanna (I), excellent coordinator, also has sweaty smile and optimistic attitude; Kenny (I), master of English, and have clear plan of what he should do; Eagle (I), my town folk, excellent in problem-solving and logic thinking; Charles (I), has solid knowledge basis and magnificent ideal.

    All of them above are excellent persons, from whom I can learn much, especially including meticulosity and initiative. And in the whole internship, I was deeply convinced that learning to be a man, is more important than learning a specific skill. 

    Respect Individual

    If your job is well done, no matter which level you are in, you will be praised. Hanna’s nomination of “outstanding contribution” exemplified this rule.
    “Work Hard, Play Hard.” is mentioned frequently. Intern’s icebreaking with partner, periodic team-building and team-attending carnival showed Accenture’s thoughts to employees, although daily burdensome work is not so human-oriented, to some extent.
